Our company works at the crossroads of society's most important issues, including the growing demand for energy and transport, optimisation of industrial processes, improvement of energy performance, and changes in demand in the telecommunications sector.
Job Responsibilities- Design Development: Develop designs in accordance with client requirements and relevant design standards to achieve cost-effective solutions, including British Standards, European Standards, and industry-specific design standards.
- Technical Expertise: Develop advanced skills in the use of structural analysis software, AutoCAD, MS Office, and various other in-house calculation software as required.
- Team Representation: Represent the structures department in multi-disciplinary project teams.
- Documentation: Prepare and check structural reports, design calculations, structural analysis models, and other written documents.
- Industry Knowledge: Keep up-to-date with industry developments and changes in standards.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with other disciplines and offices within the company to develop successful designs and solutions to engineering problems.
- Travel: Travel to client and supplier facilities (UK wide) as required.
- Client Relationships: Develop a good understanding of the background of our client's business and Kelvin Power's services to the energy sector and maintain professional relationships to secure repeat business.
- Chartered Engineer: Chartered Engineer with CEng MIStructE qualification (preferred).
- Industry Experience: Minimum 3 years of industry experience (5 years desirable).
- Civil Engineering: Desirable - ability to design civil elements of work, for example, foundations.
- BIM Knowledge: Familiar with Building Information Modelling (BIM) principles and applications in civil and structural design.
- Team Management: Experience of managing a design team.
- Technical Ability: Strong technical ability.
- Industry Standards: Knowledge of industry standards such as British Standards, Eurocodes, National Grid.
- Initiative: Able to work on own initiative.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills.
