Overview

The Scottish Government's Forestry & Land Scotland (FLS) is tasked with the stewardship of Scotland's national forests and land, encompassing approximately 640,000 hectares, which constitutes 9% of Scotland's total area. FLS plays a vital role in contributing positively to the environment and the economy, generating around £85 million in timber revenue annually and exceeding £120 million in total turnover from various activities. As the foremost provider of outdoor recreation in Scotland, FLS attracts over ten million visitors each year, contributing £110 million to the tourism sector.

This is a pivotal moment for FLS as we embark on a transformative journey aimed at achieving complete financial sustainability while fulfilling our Vision: "forests and land that Scotland can be proud of."
