Operational Equipment Technician

Join the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service as an Equipment Support Operative in our dynamic Fleet and Equipment Workshops.
This role requires a commitment of 35 hours per week, focusing on the maintenance and oversight of a diverse array of specialized operational equipment.
The position operates on a full-time basis with a two-week rotating schedule: Team 1 (Monday to Wednesday) and Team 2 (Tuesday to Thursday, with Friday off).
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting service inspections and repairs on operational firefighting equipment.
- Performing thorough investigations in line with standards set by suppliers, manufacturers, and the Chief Fire Officers Association (CFOA).
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
- A recognized qualification in machinery or plant maintenance, or
- A minimum of two years of relevant experience in a mechanical environment.
Applicants should also have at least two years of industrial mechanical experience or equivalent certification. A valid British driving license is essential, along with a willingness to travel and work across various locations.
Additionally, a basic understanding of IT software such as Word and Excel is required.
Compensation: The starting salary will typically be at the lower end of the scale, with opportunities for progression based on regular performance reviews. Exceptional experience may warrant a higher starting salary.
