Position Overview:
As an Anglican Spiritual Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a supportive environment for individuals in a correctional facility. This full-time position requires a commitment to providing spiritual guidance and pastoral care to inmates, staff, and their families.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate and lead worship, meditation, and religious study sessions.
  • Develop and implement local policies and practices related to spiritual care.
  • Offer mentorship and support to fellow chaplains and volunteers, particularly in times of crisis.
  • Organize and conduct faith-specific meetings and prayer sessions.
  • Provide compassionate pastoral care to inmates, assisting in crisis resolution when necessary.
  • Coordinate with external contractors and volunteers to enhance service delivery.
  • Manage the acquisition and distribution of religious literature and materials.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of Faith Awareness Training for staff members.
  • Prioritize personal spiritual health and development through dedicated time for prayer and reflection.
  • Engage in relevant meetings and contribute actively as a team member.
  • Assist in the collection and analysis of data to meet organizational targets.

Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, candidates must possess:
  • A minimum of three years of experience in delivering spiritual services within a correctional context.
  • A flexible approach to work, with the ability to collaborate in a multi-faith environment.
  • Formal endorsement from the appropriate ecclesiastical authority.
  • Diocesan DBS clearance and current safeguarding training.
  • A recognized qualification in theology or religious studies, typically at the diploma level.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Anglican theology and practices.
