About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Peer Support Specialist to join our East of England Gambling Harms team. This is a full-time, permanent position offering a unique opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals struggling with gambling-related harms.

As a Peer Support Specialist, you will leverage your lived experience to provide invaluable support and guidance to service users receiving treatment within our East of England Gambling Harms Clinic. You will work collaboratively with our clinical team to deliver a comprehensive range of services, including individual and group support, peer-led workshops, and service user involvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage and support individuals receiving treatment within the clinic, fostering a welcoming and supportive environment.
  • Provide one-to-one and group peer support, sharing your personal journey and offering practical advice and encouragement.
  • Develop, implement, and manage service user involvement groups, empowering individuals in recovery to become 'experts by experience' and support others on their path to healing.
  • Coordinate the consistent delivery of peer support services, ensuring a high standard of care and support for all service users.
  • Collaborate with partner organizations and community support agencies to enhance the support network available to individuals in treatment.
  • Empower service users to build their community networks and access local resources, fostering a sense of belonging and self-sufficiency.

Qualifications and Experience

We are seeking an individual with:

  • Previous experience working with individuals navigating recovery from mental health challenges or addiction, ideally within a clinical setting.
  • A genuine passion for supporting others and empowering them to achieve their goals.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
