ROLE OVERVIEW

This position entails overseeing management accounting, financial forecasting, commercial analysis, and providing decision-making support for the branches within the designated region.

Collaboration with Branch Managers, Regional Directors, and the Head of Finance is essential to optimize commercial prospects while identifying potential risks and opportunities within the region.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Act as a proactive Finance Business Partner, delivering support, constructive challenge, and insights to Branch Managers and Regional Directors.

Ensure the provision of timely, precise, and pertinent financial data and analysis to key stakeholders, including:

  • Monthly and quarterly financial forecasts
  • Annual budget preparation
  • Variance analysis
  • Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Ad-hoc analysis aimed at enhancing business performance
  • Identification of risks and opportunities to meet targets
  • Development and rigorous evaluation of budget/forecast assumptions and KPIs
  • Preparation of Monthly Review Packs and participation in Monthly Branch Review Meetings
  • Analysis of business performance variances and recommendations for enhancements
  • Consignment reconciliation and analysis
  • Margin management through detailed analysis
  • Understanding and developing distribution cost reporting and KPIs
  • Performance benchmarking across various locations
  • Monitoring new business performance and profitability
  • Participation in monthly stock audits
  • Maintaining robust financial controls across all operational areas
  • Supporting the Head of Finance through analysis and project initiatives as needed

COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate in accordance with the SOX internal control framework to mitigate risks and ensure transparency
  • Adhere to all company policies and statutory obligations
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors
  • Ensure that tasks are documented and saved according to the delegation of authority matrix in a timely manner
  • Maintain appropriate segregation of duties within branches in alignment with the control framework

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Experience managing multiple sites within the fresh produce sector
  • Background in management accounting within an FMCG manufacturing context
  • Comfortable operating as the sole finance representative within the region
  • A flexible team player capable of influencing change through insightful analysis and collaboration
  • Demonstrates personal accountability, results orientation, and a proactive attitude
  • Possesses enthusiasm and determination for continuous improvement
  • Ability to adapt swiftly to changing circumstances
  • Strong time management skills and ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels
  • Experience in influencing non-financial colleagues
  • Proven track record in process improvement and stakeholder engagement
  • Ability to take initiative and adapt to industry changes
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Qualified Accountant, preferably CIMA

Willingness to support multiple locations and travel extensively is essential for this role.
