As a Cleaning Coordinator, you will be entrusted with the critical task of ensuring that all medical apparatus is sanitized and properly maintained. You will oversee the management of stock levels within the department, assist in maintaining a safe and hygienic environment, and facilitate the provision of food and beverages. Additionally, you will gather feedback from patients and their families through the Friends and Family Test (FFT) and contribute to ongoing quality enhancement initiatives.

Your organized and proactive approach will be essential in executing tasks efficiently and effectively. You will thrive under pressure, utilizing your exceptional communication and teamwork skills.

Key Responsibilities

The role involves being an integral member of the team, coordinating services within the A&E department, and collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Cleaning and catering duties.
  • Maintaining inventory and supplies.
  • Performing minor equipment maintenance and restocking A&E as needed.
  • Engaging with contractors and support services, monitoring quality standards, reporting issues, and taking corrective actions.
  • Ensuring the department's cleanliness and appearance supports optimal patient care while respecting patients' privacy and dignity.

Job Responsibilities

Under the guidance of senior staff within A&E, the Facilities Housekeeper, and the Facilities Manager, the post holder will:

  • Maintain a clean and safe environment by employing appropriate cleaning techniques and adhering to established cleaning schedules.
  • Report any faults or defects promptly.
  • Complete all mandatory training relevant to the role, including COSHH, safe equipment usage, moving and handling, and food hygiene.
  • Possess a basic understanding of IT.
  • Complete all required monitoring documentation and sheets as mandated by the Trust.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent.

Desirable:

  • NVQ Level 2 qualification.
  • COSHH certification.
  • Basic IT skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

Skills and Knowledge

Essential:

  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn about:
  • Basic Health & Safety regulations.
  • Infection Control protocols.
  • Manual Handling techniques.
  • Basic Food Hygiene standards.
  • Customer Care principles.

Desirable:

  • Basic keyboard proficiency.
  • Familiarity with NHS cleanliness standards.

Experience

Essential:

  • Prior experience in hospitality, customer service, or care settings.
  • Experience working collaboratively within a team.

Desirable:

  • Experience in cleaning or portering within a commercial context.
  • Understanding of workplace Health & Safety, including Infection Control and manual handling procedures.
  • COSHH training, either on-the-job or certified.
  • Flexibility and a positive, proactive attitude.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
