Governance and Risk Management Lead

Job Summary:
The Governance, Risk and Safety Lead will work within a team and alongside governance leads to deliver the clinical board's quality and safety strategy. The individual will network across the Trust and with key stakeholders within services to drive patient safety initiatives and ensure continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in coordinating the agenda and presenting on governance issues, including incidents and complaints, as an active participant and member of the Quality Oversight Group (QOG) for the clinical board.
- Review moderate and above incidents and work alongside key stakeholders/governance leads to provide guidance on investigation, duty of candour, completion, and presentation of rapid reviews, providing shared learning and assurance.
- Attend board governance meetings, sharing information and providing updates on key metrics to measure clinical effectiveness and outcomes.
- Attend the response action review meeting, clinical risk group, and patient safety forum and disseminate lessons learnt and changes to practice.
- Develop and implement a cross-cutting clinical effectiveness and QA programme for the Board to monitor and enhance the quality of care provided across the Board.
- Work with services within the Board to ensure that appropriate key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure clinical effectiveness and outcomes, patient experiences, and quality and safety are used to inform a quality report for the Board.
- Support the Medical Quality and Safety Lead and Head of Nursing to develop and embed robust audit and assurance processes within the Clinical Board.
- Help to promote and support an effective audit program within the Clinical Board and produce a yearly high-level audit report, in conjunction with other audit leads within the Clinical Board, to demonstrate the positive effects for patient outcomes and pathways.
Requirements:
- Excellent communication and engagement across the Trust support services, patient experience department, clinical boards, and the clinical governance and risk department.
- Ability to analyze information and data, and update trackers and action logs.
- Report writing skills.
- Engagement with frontline staff to promote a positive learning culture and ensure openness and an environment whereby quality improvement and patient safety is at the forefront.
- Ability to promote a culture of incident reporting and support investigations into adverse events, incidents, and near misses, identifying systems issues, implementing corrective actions, and facilitating local and organizational learning.
