Enterprise Risk Management Officer

Contract Type: Fixed term contract

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the implementation and supervision of standards for essential components of the normative documentation, including the Risk Appetite Framework (RAF), Risk Appetite Statement (RAS), and Risk Management Framework (RMF) for SGLB and SGIL:

  • Coordinate the annual update process
  • Ensure alignment with Group normative documentation
  • Establish compliance with regulatory expectations
  • Prepare concise, accurate documentation and summaries
  • Monitor adherence to the RAF, RAS, and RMF

• Enhance the risk identification and assessment framework for SGLB and SGIL, conducting regular risk identification and assessment initiatives;

• Review and challenge significant ESG risk factors and capital management elements;

• Stay informed about business, regulatory, and market developments, providing insights and leadership to improve risk management practices;

• Prepare impact/action summaries concerning relevant regulatory changes;

• Develop documentation and presentations for governance forums;

• Participate in and/or lead projects as necessary;

• Foster a robust risk culture and sound governance practices;

• Engage in the SGIL Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP).

Candidate Profile:

Essential Competencies:

• In-depth understanding of enterprise risk management within a banking context

• Extensive experience in formulating Risk Management Frameworks, Risk Appetite, risk identification and assessment, capital management, and producing ICAAP deliverables

• Solid knowledge and experience in identifying, assessing, and managing ESG risk factors

• Proficient in evaluating internal and external risk trends, regulatory developments, and articulating their impact on key deliverables

• Collaborative team player with strong emotional intelligence, enjoys sharing knowledge and working together

• Strong risk culture and professional integrity; demonstrates risk awareness and adherence to internal policies

• Excellent coordination and project management skills with impactful leadership capabilities

• Skilled in building effective relationships across all levels of seniority to collaborate with, influence, and engage key stakeholders

• Proven ability to deliver compelling, well-structured presentations

• Proficient writing skills, particularly for governance and normative documentation, newsletters, and regulatory publication summaries/impact analyses

• Detail-oriented with a proactive approach

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications with a demonstrated ability to innovate

• Excellent command of written and spoken English

Desirable Competencies:

• Strong quantitative skills related to financial statements, performance analysis, and ICAAP

• Expertise in stress testing and reverse stress testing methodologies.

Role Context:

This position reports to the Head of Enterprise Risk Management, UK. The scope of the ERM function encompasses:

  • Defining and implementing risk management processes such as Risk Identification, Risk Appetite, and the development of the Risk Management Framework, along with ad hoc analyses for Societe Generale London Branch (SGLB) and Societe Generale International Limited (SGIL)
  • Coordinating and contributing to the key aspects of the SGIL Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP)
  • Regularly reviewing the risk profile and governance of SGLB and SGIL
  • Monitoring regulatory developments for RISQ in the UK and assisting with the implementation of new regulations as necessary
  • Participating in Group-level initiatives, collaborating with other wholesale locations and Group (RISQ/ERM).

Work Environment:

The Risk Division (RISQ) operates under a three lines of defence model, ensuring well-defined and segregated responsibilities that align with both Group frameworks and local regulatory requirements. RISQ functions as the second line of defence, independently analyzing, challenging, and monitoring the risk-taking activities of the Business Lines to facilitate effective execution of the Bank's strategy in accordance with its risk appetite.
