About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced postdoctoral researcher to join our Materials and Interfaces research programme at SLB Cambridge Research. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving innovation for our company by addressing materials challenges relating to CO2 capture processes.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and maintain the lab to the highest safety standards
  2. Design, lead and deliver innovative materials chemistry and IP for different projects
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  4. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  5. Flexibility to learn new techniques
  6. Be up to date with polymer, membrane, sorbent, CCUS scientific literature and technology developments
  7. Effectively communicate ideas, concepts and results to the team and stakeholders
  8. Engage and collaborate with SLB technical community
  9. Publish scientific papers, write patent applications and attend conferences
Requirements
  1. PhD in organic chemistry, polymer chemistry, materials sciences
  2. Lab experience in polymer chemistry, materials science
  3. Good experience in characterising and testing polymer membranes in terms of microstructure composition and performance testing for specific applications (including for gas permeability, selectivity)
  4. Good experience in polymer functionalisation and synthesis processes and membrane fabrication methods
  5. Knowledge and experience of analytical chemistry methods and polymer/surface characterisation and testing (structure/performance relationships)
