Position Overview

We are excited to introduce a pivotal role designed to enhance our apheresis services and cellular therapy laboratories. This position focuses on the meticulous scheduling and management of cellular therapies essential for patient care.

Under the guidance of the Head of BMT Clinical Services and the Senior Nurse Manager, you will engage with healthcare facilities across the region to ensure that cell collection processes align with patient requirements, while also considering the operational capabilities of our apheresis and laboratory services.

Key Responsibilities

In this position, you will oversee the scheduling and coordination of apheresis cell harvests and processing. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Establishing effective communication and fostering strong relationships with various NHS Trusts and external partners, including transplant unit clinicians, nursing staff, BMT coordinators, and stem cell donor registries.
  • Collaborating closely with Therapeutic Apheresis Service (TAS) units and Cellular & Molecular Therapies (CMT) laboratories.
  • Addressing and escalating any issues or complaints related to the scheduling of cell collections and processing.
  • Serving as the primary NHSBT contact for clinical teams requesting cell harvests and processing services.
  • Leading internal scheduling discussions and participating in external planning meetings.
  • Monitoring, auditing, and reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure service excellence.
  • Providing line management for the BMT Administrator.
  • Drafting and reviewing operational policies and procedures.

This role may require travel and occasional overnight stays, with prior notice provided for any irregular hours.
