Position: Import - Export Compliance Officer

Company Overview: Our client is a well-established, privately-owned organization dedicated to leading the transition towards a sustainable future. They are currently seeking an Import - Export Compliance Officer to join their team.

Role Overview: As an Import-Export Compliance Officer, you will be instrumental in upholding the company's dedication to adhering to international trade laws and customs regulations. This position requires a proactive approach to manage import-export operations while ensuring compliance with all relevant legal frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation, submission, and review of import-export documentation, including customs declarations, licenses, permits, and shipping records, ensuring precision and compliance.
  • Conduct sample checks on declarations submitted by customs agents to verify their accuracy and adherence to applicable regulations.
  • Engage with customs agents, Group Tax, and customs authorities to address any identified compliance issues.
  • Submit TSS declarations for goods movement from the UK into Northern Ireland.
  • Implement and validate procedures to ensure the accuracy of essential master-data, including commodity codes, country of origin, and weights.
  • Prepare and maintain certifications for Preferential Country of Origin (COO) required for export markets.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders regarding the implications of non-certifiable Preferential COO on duty costs for export customers.
  • Conduct risk assessments on import-export activities to identify potential compliance challenges.
  • Review adherence to internal policies and external regulations, reporting any discrepancies and suggesting corrective measures.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in import-export compliance, customs regulations, and international trade.
  • In-depth knowledge of rules of origin, both preferential and non-preferential.
  • Familiarity with CDS and TSS systems, and ideally AIS (Republic of Ireland).
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Adept at managing multiple tasks and prioritizing effectively.
  • Ability to analyze international trade regulations, identify key requirements, and develop suitable policies and processes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the capability to devise appropriate solutions independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
