Position: International Trade Compliance Specialist

We are representing a reputable and privately held organization committed to leading the charge towards a sustainable future. They are currently seeking an International Trade Compliance Specialist to join their dynamic team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring the organization's compliance with international trade laws and customs regulations. Your expertise will be essential in managing import-export operations while guaranteeing adherence to all relevant legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation, submission, and review of all import-export documentation, including customs declarations, licenses, permits, and shipping records, ensuring precision and compliance.
  • Conduct sample checks on declarations submitted by customs agents to verify their accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Collaborate with customs agents, Group Tax, and customs authorities to address any identified non-compliance issues.
  • Manage the submission of TSS declarations for goods moving from the UK into Northern Ireland.
  • Establish and implement procedures to ensure the accuracy of master data, including commodity codes, country of origin, and weights.
  • Perform sample checks on master data accuracy and coordinate with relevant teams.
  • Prepare and maintain certifications for Preferential Country of Origin (COO) necessary for export markets.
  • Engage with key stakeholders regarding COO certifications and the potential duty cost implications for export customers.
  • Conduct risk assessments on import-export activities to identify compliance vulnerabilities.
  • Review adherence to internal policies and external regulations, reporting any discrepancies and suggesting corrective measures.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in import-export compliance, customs regulations, and international trade.
  • Familiarity with rules of origin, both preferential and non-preferential.
  • Experience with CDS and TSS systems, and ideally AIS (Republic of Ireland).
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks effectively.
  • Capability to analyze international trade regulations, identify key requirements, and develop appropriate policies and procedures.
  • Proficient problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
