Job Summary:
AVASK Accounting & Business Consultants is seeking a highly skilled Compliance Specialist to join our team. As a Compliance Specialist, you will provide clients with a comprehensive range of expertise, including practical guidance on cross-border transactions, ensuring they are fully compliant, and assisting with EPR and tax advisory services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide consultancy and VAT, and EPR advisory services at the highest standard, including filing VAT returns in a timely manner, ensuring accuracy, and not incurring penalties.
- Advise clients on tax matters, including which tax office to make payments to, and remind them proactively of outstanding returns.
- Ensure that European filings, EC Sales, and Intrastat reporting are in place where or if required, and review thresholds in place in each country and notify European offices of such data.
- Manage clients' accounts in coordination with the Credit Control Department, notify clients when the account is due for payment, and chase them when the account is overdue.
- Inform clients of potential VAT/EPR penalties within all Countries, and correspond with clients in relation to tax authorities in Europe.
- Train, support, and develop new members of the team, collaborate with the team in a positive manner, and actively connect with Managers and Directors to suggest any contributions to improve procedures.
- Travel if required to events/training.
Requirements:
- Degree in Environmental Science field or similar.
- Experience working in VAT/Accountancy/Finance department.
- Confident and with excellent communication skills for client interaction and engagement.
- AAT/ATT or Degree in Accountancy or VAT Diploma.
- Excellent verbal and writing skills.
- Organised and proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Works well in a small team as well as independently.
- Excellent multi-tasking ability.
