Job Responsibilities
The Financial Accounting and Reporting team at DESNZ is on the lookout for a skilled finance professional to fill the role of Senior Executive Officer (SEO) Financial Accountant. This critical position within our finance division requires collaboration and teamwork to deliver the Department's Core accounts while providing essential accounting expertise.
The role involves:
- Overseeing and managing elements of the Core Department’s general ledger and financial statements.
- Engaging effectively with the broader finance team and Finance Business Partners.
- Ensuring compliance with HM Treasury guidance and the Financial Reporting Manual (FReM) during the accounts production process.
- Offering technical accounting advice based on International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) for both new and existing departmental initiatives.
- Collaborating with HM Treasury on technical matters and cross-government accounting issues.
- Coordinating with external auditors, including the National Audit Office (NAO), to facilitate an efficient audit process.
Required Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Experience in applying International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Familiarity with finance systems and associated reporting tools.
- High proficiency in MS Excel.
- Transactional accounting experience, including general, purchase, and sales ledgers.
- Ability to utilize MS Excel for data analysis and reconciliation.
Qualifications
Applicants should be a Full or Part Qualified Accountant.
