Job Title: Financial Accountant

Environmental Standards Scotland is seeking a highly skilled Financial Accountant to join our team. As a key member of our Corporate Services and Communications team, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records and reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and presenting financial reports to the ESS Board, Audit and Risk Committee, and Scottish Government
  • Leading on the annual accounts and external audit requirements, including updating reports to the Executive Team and Board
  • Developing and implementing financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with accounting standards and guidelines
  • Supporting the transition to a new finance system (Oracle Cloud) and ensuring ESS's needs are met and factored into planning
  • Working with the ESS Corporate Services and Communications team to develop effective services and processes

Requirements:

  • Excellent understanding and experience of budgeting and financial management processes and reporting
  • Excellent technical accounting skills and solid, comprehensive experience in compiling year-end financial accounts for external audit
  • Strong financial modelling skills using applications such as Microsoft Excel
  • Proven ability to work on your own initiative, coping with the demands of a fast-changing environment
  • Effective communication and presentation skills, with evidence of presenting complex information to senior managers
