Role Purpose:

At Travelex, we're revolutionizing data services to be at the heart of our customer relationships. Our team is fast-paced, yet collaborative and flexible, even in high-pressure situations.

Your role as a data delivery manager involves owning our backlog of data delivery activities, continuously monitoring priorities and risks. You'll be the go-to person for understanding our current delivery status and the status of each work item. As a curious and knowledgeable individual, you'll be able to grasp every item in the backlog, including complex dependencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own our backlog of tasks related to data pipelines, data services, and data transformations.
  • Lead sessions to update the backlog, discuss progress, identify risks, and update priorities.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, product owners, subject matter experts, and managers to maintain an accurate picture of delivery status.
  • Add clarity and simplicity to work descriptions and dependencies.
  • Contribute to gap analysis and option assessments, communicating pros and cons of different delivery options.
  • Reach agreement with colleagues and stakeholders on next steps.
  • Lead delivery planning activities and monitor plan delivery, including resources, budget, milestones, and quality standards.

Key Requirements:

This role requires someone with a mix of skills from delivery management, agile delivery, product ownership, and business analysis, who thrives in a highly technical environment focused on data engineering and architecture. Key requirements include:

  • Experience in delivering complex data products.
  • High-level competence in agile project delivery.
  • Ability to fine-tune agile delivery approaches, combining elements of Kanban, Scrum, Lean, and our own practices.
  • Effective communication with data engineers, architects, and analysts, learning about their work and explaining it to others.
  • Understanding of cloud computing principles and delivering solutions in the cloud.
  • Knowledge of compliance and regulation, such as PCI and FCA.
  • Ability to brainstorm, present, simplify, clarify, prioritize, document, listen, negotiate, and compromise.
  • Curiosity about the business, its requirements, and culture.
  • A 'product mindset,' organizing deliverables as products with maximum focus on the user.
  • Comfort in an environment that's always in discovery mode, leading discovery activities.
  • Your unique style or way of working, making our team diverse and original.
