About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Substance Misuse Specialist to join our team at Catch22. As a Senior Substance Misuse School Link Practitioner, you will play a critical role in supporting schools across the region to develop effective policies, procedures, and training to address substance misuse concerns.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children and young people, working in close partnership with Surrey Healthy Schools to shape and develop this role. You will have the opportunity to engage with a range of stakeholders, including education staff, parents, and carers, to provide support and guidance on substance misuse concerns.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver training for education staff on substance misuse awareness and prevention.
  • Provide targeted support to parents and carers of children with substance misuse concerns, including one-to-one sessions and group workshops.
  • Collaborate with local schools and agencies to deliver a holistic package of care, including attending multi-agency meetings and ensuring effective referrals and care management.
  • Offer initial triage and assessment for students with substance misuse concerns, and refer them to our substance misuse service as appropriate.
  • Provide specialist harm reduction advice and information to parents and carers, and refer children to our service as needed.
  • Ensure timely and accurate data recording, including tracking, outcome monitoring, and KPI reporting.
Requirements
  • NVQ3 Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification, including relevant professional qualifications.
  • Specialist knowledge of alcohol and substance misuse, including associated risks and effects.
  • Ability to engage with and build effective relationships with a range of stakeholders, including education staff, parents, and carers.
  • Experience in delivering training and presentations to professionals and partners.
