Position Overview

As a Substance Misuse Practitioner Trainee, you will be engaged in our Surrey Young Persons Substance Misuse Service. This service provides individualized assistance to young individuals and their families, featuring a 24-hour helpline, counseling, and medication support as part of a customized recovery strategy for youth aged 11 to 25 years.

Utilizing a harm reduction framework, which prioritizes the service user, we offer targeted educational sessions and specialized interventions for those needing additional support.

Throughout your apprenticeship, you will pursue the Level 3 Youth Support Worker qualification. This program will enhance your understanding, skills, and behaviors necessary for supporting young people aged 11-25, fostering their personal, social, and educational growth. Youth support work is centered on building a holistic, positive professional rapport with young individuals, ensuring that the relationship is guided by their personal journeys.

As a Substance Misuse Practitioner Trainee, you will gain insights into the reasons behind substance use among young people and develop the skills to effectively engage with them, as well as their parents and caregivers.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated proficiency in literacy and numeracy, evidenced by GCSEs in Mathematics and English at grade 4/C or higher.

This role requires daily travel within Surrey, necessitating access to a vehicle, along with a valid driving license, MOT, and Business Insurance. Occasional travel across the UK may also be required.

Flexibility in working hours is essential, including the possibility of weekend and evening shifts to accommodate client needs.
