About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Director to join our award-winning leadership team at Stockport Council. As a key member of our senior management team, you will play a critical role in shaping the financial strategy and direction of the council.

The successful candidate will have a strong track record of delivering financial leadership and expertise, with a focus on corporate and service finance. You will be responsible for providing financial advice, challenge, and support to help us deliver our ambitious £1 billion development and regeneration programme.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the development and implementation of the council's financial strategy
  • Providing financial leadership for our development and regeneration programme
  • Managing all aspects of corporate and service finance
  • Leading revenue and benefits, internal audit, insurance, and risk management functions
  • Providing financial advice and support to senior managers and councillors
