Empro Consultants is seeking a dedicated Council Tax and Benefits Specialist to join our team in Basildon. This role plays a vital part in ensuring accurate and efficient administration of Council Tax billing and benefits processes, upholding the highest standards of quality and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations related to Council Tax billing and benefits, continuously striving for process improvement and efficiency.
  • Interpret and apply Council Tax and Benefits legislation, ensuring all processes and decisions adhere to legal guidelines and policy frameworks.
  • Administer the Local Council Tax Support Scheme in accordance with established local policies and procedures.
  • Provide clear and concise responses to customer inquiries regarding billing and benefits decisions. This includes issuing statements of reasons, rectifying any errors, and reconsidering decisions when necessary.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience working within a benefits section or similar environment, handling income-related assessments.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Council Tax and Housing Benefits law and procedures.
  • Excellent customer service skills, demonstrated through effective communication and interpersonal interactions.
  • Proficiency in accurately maintaining and interpreting personal and financial data.
