Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Business Tutor to join our team at HMP & YOI Bronzefield, the largest women's prison in Europe. As a Business Tutor, you will play a vital role in empowering female prisoners to develop their entrepreneurial skills and prepare them for successful reintegration into the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver innovative workshop lessons to prisoners, promoting participation and engagement.
  • Collaborate with the Vocational Curriculum Lead to create stimulating and effective learning experiences.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient use of tools and equipment, adhering to security and health and safety protocols.
  • Monitor the progress of learners, reporting any difficulties to the Line Manager and providing regular feedback to prisoners.
  • Establish a rapport with prisoners, encouraging them to take their first steps in learning and achieving their training goals.
  • Monitor the quality of work produced by prisoners, maintaining high standards and providing constructive feedback.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as required by the Director or Head of Learning, Skills & Employment, contributing to the effective operation of the prison.
Requirements
  • Be highly organized and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Prioritize safety in the workplace and have knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation.
  • Have a commitment to best practice in equalities and diversity, and be able to instruct effectively.
  • Be passionate about developing the skills and self-esteem of female prisoners and have an interest in the rehabilitation and resettlement of prisoners.
  • Have strong interpersonal skills, an approachable personality, and a flexible and responsive attitude.
  • Be willing to innovate and demonstrate self-motivation, and be able to work under pressure and adapt to change.
