Customer Support Specialist

Job Summary:

The Customer Support Specialist is a key member of the Reading Municipal Light Department team, responsible for providing exceptional customer service and support to our customers and other departments. This role requires strong organizational skills, a professional demeanor, and the ability to communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide day-to-day support to customers and other departments, addressing inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  2. Identify and resolve customer issues, using judgment to access internal and external resources as needed.
  3. Assist with the maintenance of the front counter, processing payments and handling customer inquiries using RMLD's CRM and billing software.
  4. Manage the reception area, ensuring effective in-person, telephone, and mail communications.
  5. Retrieve and distribute mail, packages, and other materials as needed.
  6. Process customer rebates and incentive programs, and provide credit and collection services.
  7. Work effectively and efficiently under pressure, deadlines, and difficult situations.

Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or equivalent.

Experience: Minimum of two years of utility-related or relevant experience in performing clerical duties and handling customer service situations.

Skills and Abilities:

Excellent command of the English language, strong writing and typing ability, and strong interpersonal, organizational, and prioritizing skills.

Licenses and Certifications:

Valid driver's license in MA required.
