About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Cancer Nurse Specialist to join our Lower Gastrointestinal Team at Sussex Community. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing individualized patient-centered care for those diagnosed with colorectal cancer.

The successful candidate will work closely with our Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist team, providing expert care and support to patients and their families. You will be responsible for reviewing and improving communication and pathways between multidisciplinary teams, ensuring seamless care delivery.

We are looking for a nurse with a background in colorectal surgical/acute care or cancer nursing experience. If you are passionate about delivering high-quality patient care and are committed to professional development, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support patients and colleagues in breaking bad news and through the investigation/staging pathway.
  • Contribute to personalized patient care, providing appropriate information and advice to patients and others affected by cancer.
  • Signpost and refer to services appropriately, such as counseling and palliative care.
  • Liaise effectively with members of the multidisciplinary teams, including oncology, stoma care, and ERP.
Requirements
  • NMC registration.
  • Relevant experience at band 6.
  • Service development/improvement/change management experience, including audit and data analysis.
  • Demonstrates commitment to personal and professional development.
  • Breadth of nursing experience.
