About the Role

As a Product Manager for the Card Processing Front Office team, you'll play a critical role in driving the product strategy, roadmap, and execution for payment processing technology at Tesco.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of the payment domain, including trade-offs and collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Initiate product discovery and identify opportunities to deliver increments that meet customer and colleague needs, are technically feasible, and viable for the Tesco business.
  • Manage and grow a leading authorization gateway, responsible for processing over 2.5 billion transactions per year, and expand our payment offering to customers, optimizing processing and acceptance rates through to acquirers and issuers.
  • Own the technical relationship with acquiring partners, ensuring adherence to regulatory and scheme mandates.
  • Contribute to our broader payment strategy, including new payment experiences, the future of card payments, open banking, native wallets, closed-loop schemes, and more.
  • Collaborate with the Payments team in Tesco Technology, a cross-functional Agile product development team of engineers, technology product managers, and program managers.
Requirements
  • Strong online payments domain experience, preferably within a UK/EU payment gateway, PSP, acquirer, scheme, or issuer, with connections across the payments industry.
  • Experience with integrations to payment gateways and alternative payment methods.
  • Good understanding of PSD2 rules on Strong Customer Authentication (SCA).
  • Experience of marketplace payments is an advantage.
  • Delivered change in a retail environment (in-store, online).
  • Leadership of an API or platform product to build new lines of business.
  • Efficient stakeholder management.
  • Able to influence and guide partner product teams.
  • Business process mapping, workflow optimization, human-centered design.
  • Technically proficient to influence and understand solution context and approach (legacy, tactical, strategic) and trade-offs in software development choices.
  • Built scalable, resilient transactional services as part of a wider service-oriented architecture for multiple consumers and front-end apps to use.
  • Demonstrates progress against Objectives and Key Results.
  • Has taken multiple ideas through the software development lifecycle, from conception to go-live and ongoing optimization.
