Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Research Nurse to join our team at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality clinical research services and ensuring the safe administration of experimental therapies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate expert research nursing care for patients participating in clinical trials.
  • Ensure compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and the Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trial) Regulations 2004 and Amended Regulations 2006.
  • Facilitate the recruitment of patients to clinical trials and ensure high-quality clinical studies and trials.
  • Act as a patient advocate, providing support and assistance as required.
  • Supervise the safe administration of experimental therapies and monitor the expected and unexpected side effects of drugs and other treatment modalities.
Requirements
  • Level 1 NMC Registered Nurse.
  • Experience with clinical research projects and SACT competency.
  • Knowledge of quality, standard setting, benchmarking, and audit.
  • IT skills, including use of email and office packages.
  • Competency in phlebotomy and cannulation.
Working Arrangements

The successful candidate will be required to work at two of our Units - the Guy's Phase I Unit and the St. Thomas' Cardiometabolic Unit. Work patterns will include day shifts, including early and late shifts, as well as some night duties and weekends as required.

Knowledge/Qualifications

  • Essential
    • Level 1 NMC Registered Nurse.
  • Desirable
    • A Clinical Research qualification.
    • Experience with Access Databases.
    • Experience with Excel Spreadsheets, Ecrf, and patient database systems.
    • Knowledge of quality, standard setting, benchmarking, and audit.
    • IT skills, including use of email and office packages.
    • Competency in phlebotomy and cannulation.
