As a Dietetic Support Worker, you'll play a vital role in delivering nutritional care to patients at The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust. Your Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive administrative assistance to the Dietetic team, ensuring smooth operations and efficient workflow.
  • Manage the supply of essential patient resources, including leaflets, nutritional supplements, and feeding equipment, ensuring timely availability for discharges.
  • Contribute to a seamless patient experience by facilitating safe and timely discharges and handovers within the Dietetic department.
  • Support the organization of events and promotional stands related to dietetics, raising awareness and promoting healthy eating practices.
  • Maintain accurate records and data collection on relevant systems, contributing to effective monitoring and evaluation of patient care.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in taking basic anthropometric measurements, such as weight, height, and mid-upper arm circumference, providing valuable insights into patient health status.
  • Develop a foundational understanding of feeding pump operation and equipment, assisting patients with their nutritional needs.
  • Collaborate with the Food Service Dietitian on catering-related tasks, ensuring adherence to dietary guidelines and promoting healthy meal options.
  • Promote awareness of dietetic referral criteria among multidisciplinary team members, facilitating timely interventions and improved patient outcomes.
  • Support the implementation and audit of the Malnutrition Universal Screening Tool (MUST), contributing to early identification and management of malnutrition.
  • Independently manage a caseload of patients requiring oral nutrition support, providing personalized guidance and monitoring their progress.

You possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, enabling you to effectively interact with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals. Your experience working with people in a customer-facing role or through volunteering has honed your interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport.
