Wakefield Council is seeking a passionate and dedicated Health Improvement Officer to join our dynamic team focused on enhancing community well-being.

You will play a vital part in empowering residents to make positive choices regarding their physical activity, nutrition, and mental health.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Lead and deliver engaging physical activity sessions within the community as part of our comprehensive Community Wellbeing programs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the Wellbeing Referral team to develop and implement initiatives that encourage healthy habits and address health inequalities.
  • Provide guidance and support to individuals seeking information and resources related to health and well-being.
  • Contribute to project planning, implementation, and evaluation, ensuring alignment with best practices and evidence-based approaches.
  • Develop strong relationships with partner organizations and volunteers to expand the reach of our programs.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • A genuine passion for promoting health and well-being within communities.
  • Solid understanding of factors influencing health choices, particularly in relation to physical activity, nutrition, and mental health.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, enabling effective interaction with diverse audiences.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
