Job Summary

Aylesbury is seeking a highly experienced Commissioning Supervisor to join our team in the Highway and Bridge sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the Contractor adheres to the Contract Specification Testing & Certification requirements within it.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Contract Compliance: Ensure the Contractor adheres to the Contract Specification Testing & Certification requirements within it.
  2. Quality Assurance: Observe the Contractor's working operations for compliance with the Specification and oversee the recording of daily on-going works.
  3. Works Inspection: Organise and inspect works that will be covered up as part of the permanent works.
  4. Defect Management: Agree defective works with the Contractor and record on the site quality systems and within CEMAR.
  5. Contract Administration: Ensure Contractor closes out Defects within the timescales within the Contract.
  6. Health and Safety: Observe the on-site health and safety aspects of the Contractor's operations and inform the Project Manager of key H&S risks / and or areas for improvement.
  7. Reporting: Report observed on-site safety issues (near misses, dangerous occurrences, practices) to the Project Manager / Supervisor.
  8. Team Collaboration: Attendance at meetings as requested by the Project Manager.
Requirements
  1. Experience: Significant relevant work experience within the Highway and Bridge sector including leading a supervision team and technical teams.
  2. Knowledge: Familiar with the MCHW - Specification for Highway Works.
  3. Certifications: Driving Licence, CSCS Card, NRSWA supervisor.
  4. Skills: Ability to attend site as required, ability to liaise confidently with the Contractor on all testing technical matters and inspections as required.
Desirable
  1. Training: Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS).
  2. Experience: Experienced in using CEMAR (for recording Defects).
  3. Certifications: NEC4 ECC Supervisor accredited.
Competencies
  1. Communication: Ability to liaise confidently with the Contractor on all observed unsafe health and safety practices or near misses.
  2. Teamwork: Good communication and negotiating within a collaborative team environment.
  3. Record Management: Excellent record management skills (e.g., daily diaries) including the use of app-based record keeping products.
  4. Technical Skills: Familiarity and competence in the application of office software.
Working Arrangements

On-site presence is required for the whole working week for the duration of the works.
