We are seeking a Cloud Solutions Architect with substantial Azure experience. This role requires someone who not only defines the end goals but also understands how to refine and evolve designs and artifacts throughout the solution lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

The primary objective of this position is to ensure that the cloud architecture aligns with the operational, infrastructural, and technological requirements of the organization while supporting the overarching business and technology strategy.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing artifacts such as reference architectures, design patterns, and guidelines within the Cloud Centre of Excellence.
  • Designing landing zones, network configurations, and shared services.
  • Facilitating solution brokerage and utilizing the Cloud Hybrid Decision Framework.
  • Providing governance and oversight for cloud solutions.
  • Transforming core systems through collaborative delivery and internal oversight.
  • Remediating existing cloud services and ensuring compliance with governance standards.
  • Advising internal stakeholders on cloud solutions.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in cloud solutions as part of the broader Solutions Architecture team and will report to the Head of Architecture.

Collaboration and Communication

You will need to cultivate and maintain strong professional relationships across various teams, including:

  • Head of Cloud
  • Cloud Centre of Excellence Leadership
  • Cloud Project Sponsor
  • Head of Architecture
  • Cloud Computing Advisory Council members
  • Operations and Resilience Teams
  • Project Working Groups and Delivery Teams
  • Key Suppliers and Strategic Partners

Daily Duties

In collaboration with the Head of Cloud and other leaders, you will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring that adopted cloud solutions meet or exceed functional, non-functional, operational, and regulatory standards.
  • Conducting solution brokerage and evaluating viable technical and business options.
  • Engaging with vendors to communicate and prioritize requirements, aiding in detailed solution design.
  • Reviewing and approving cloud solution designs across the organization.
  • Defining high-level cloud technology requirements and supporting detailed design activities.
  • Working with architectural governance bodies to ensure alignment with overall architecture strategies.
  • Collaborating with analysts and architects to define objectives and acceptance criteria for solutions.
  • Supporting the solution build and handover processes to ensure all architectures reflect the implemented solutions.
  • Articulating and owning the target end-state cloud architecture, including transition states.
  • Ensuring all deliverables meet established quality standards.

Required Skills and Experience

This role is crucial to the organization's transformation strategy and requires strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Key qualifications include:

  • Proven experience in Cloud Architecture, particularly with Azure services.
  • Expertise in cloud infrastructure, network, and security design.
  • Experience in designing cloud platforms, including landing zones and shared services.
  • Ability to understand and navigate the current technology landscape.
  • Awareness of industry trends and strategic directions.
  • Strong communication skills to influence and motivate stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience in agile delivery teams and familiarity with agile tools.
  • Financial services experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
