Job Description

Job Purpose:

The Cloud Operations and DevOps teams at Sage are responsible for ensuring the availability, security, and performance of our online products and services. As a Senior Cloud and DevOps Solutions Architect, you will play a key role in bridging the technical gaps between Development and Operations by deploying, administering, and improving infrastructure and automation using cloud technologies.

This role requires a deep understanding and experience of working in a DevOps or SRE environment, with a proven track record of automation and multiple CI/CD implementations. You will work closely with product delivery teams, influencing their approach and design by deploying, administering, monitoring, and improving their service.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Take personal accountability for your products to ensure they remain available, secure, and performant.
  2. Design and implement solutions and services to simplify customer experience, mitigate risk, improve usability, and impact Sage's goals.
  3. Understand operational risk and be accountable for delivering an excellent service to our customers.
  4. Manage stakeholder expectations, ensure accountability for all team members, make, and influence decisions.
  5. Drive best practices in CI/CD and product delivery pipeline.
  6. Promote a DevOps/SRE culture and adoption of CI/CD principles throughout the organization.
  7. Participate and run global initiatives.
  8. Create, maintain, administer, and enhance cloud environments to ensure they are secure and scalable.
  9. Ensure key non-functional requirements around availability, security, and performance are met before products are made available to customers.
  10. Define key metrics/logging and implement tooling to provide stakeholders with information to identify improvements to the service.
  11. Closely coordinate with product delivery teams to ensure designs, standards, and quality can be implemented to improve the customer experience.
  12. Take the lead during high-pressure incident scenarios, balancing technical resolution and senior stakeholder communications.
  13. Communicate with key stakeholders on planned changes, incidents, and service improvement plans, influencing decisions on product roadmaps.
  14. Improve the out-of-hours customer experience by participating in our 24x7 on-call rota.
