We are seeking skilled Registered Nurses and Paramedics to offer exceptional end-of-life support within our In-Patient Ward. If you are passionate about delivering the highest standard of care and are eager to work in a hospice environment, this role is tailored for you.

We maintain a favorable patient-to-staff ratio, allowing you to dedicate the time required to each patient, which we believe leads to the best outcomes for them and their loved ones.

The In-Patient Ward features a specially designed, fifteen-bed facility. You will be an integral part of a supportive, motivated team. Occasionally, you may be required to assist at our other care locations.

Job Responsibilities

As a Senior Hospice Care Nurse, you will:

  • Deliver high-quality palliative care to patients with terminal illnesses, including conditions such as Dementia, Cancer, Organ Failure, and Neurological disorders.
  • Serve as a practical and advisory resource for other healthcare professionals regarding hospice palliative care, encompassing physical, psychological, social, spiritual support, and bereavement care.
  • Ensure that patients and their families are informed about the full range of services available, enabling them to make educated decisions about their care.

Core Deliverables

  • Provide compassionate, personalized, and holistic care to patients and their families.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care pathways in alignment with hospice philosophy.
  • Review and update care plans and documentation, escalating concerns as necessary.
  • Recognize and manage palliative care emergencies effectively.
  • Administer medications, including injectables, as per patient needs.
  • Oversee the safe management of controlled substances and clinical supplies.
  • Support new team members through orientation and training.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to maintain a high level of safety awareness.

Leadership and Mentorship

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and mentor new staff, students, and healthcare practitioners.
  • Promote a culture that reflects the values of the hospice.
  • Empower volunteers to embody the hospice values in their contributions.

Communication and Team Collaboration

As part of your responsibilities, you will:

  • Identify when to escalate patient needs to senior staff and coordinate necessary actions.
  • Actively participate as a team player, providing support and guidance to colleagues.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with external healthcare providers.
