NELFT NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our dedicated team specializing in the care of older adults.

As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for a diverse range of mental health conditions affecting older individuals.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert clinical leadership and guidance to junior colleagues within the department.
  • Conduct thorough assessments and develop individualized treatment plans for patients with complex mental health needs, encompassing a spectrum of neurodevelopmental disorders.
  • Collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, social workers, and GPs, to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Supervise junior colleagues and facilitate their professional development through mentorship and training opportunities.
  • Liaise with external agencies and organizations to coordinate comprehensive care for patients within the community setting.
Person Specification: GMC Registration:
  • Full GMC Registration with a valid license to practice is essential.
Section 12 Certification:
  • Possession of Section 12 certification or a demonstrable commitment to obtaining this qualification is required.
Knowledge and Expertise:
  • Demonstrated mastery in the management of a wide range of mental disorders prevalent in older adults, including neurodevelopmental conditions.
Experience:
  • A minimum of 4 years of full-time postgraduate training (or equivalent part-time experience) is essential. This should include at least 2 years within a specialty training program in a relevant field or as a fixed-term specialty trainee, or possess equivalent experience and competencies.
