Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated IT Support Engineer to join our team at Reed Technology in Belfast. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for providing technical support and assistance to our clients and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide first and second-line technical support to clients and internal teams via email, phone, and in-person.
- Respond to and resolve technical issues in a timely and efficient manner.
- Take ownership of IT projects and tasks, ensuring they are completed to a high standard.
- Remotely connect and assist clients with IT-related queries, maintaining clear communication until resolution.
- Set up new user accounts and profiles, and deal with password issues.
- Prioritize and manage open cases, ensuring timely resolution.
- Install and configure IT hardware and software.
- Assist in the build and deployment of desktops and laptops.
- Ensure the smooth running of all ICT systems, including anti-virus software, print services, and email provision.
- Provide secure access to the network for remote users.
- Test hardware and software releases and upgrades.
- Assist in implementing IT policy, procedure, documentation, and best practice guides.
- Work flexibly to ensure continuity of IT service, including out-of-hours and weekend support.
Requirements:
- 3rd-level qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- 2 years' relevant IT support experience, providing 1st and 2nd-line support, systems administration, help desk, or desktop support.
- Track record of providing support for PCs, laptops, printers, and other hardware for a large business application in a complex organization.
- Strong technical experience of IT systems, hardware, software, and networking principles, with the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Experience with retail software, with a good understanding of how it works and experience setting it up (EPOS, Ecommerce, SAGE, CCTV, and Audio systems).
- Experience in Microsoft Operating Systems, Windows 10, Windows 11, Server 2008-2019, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365/Azure Solutions.
- Competency in Office 365 administration – as a user, but also admin setup.
- Understanding of networking (DNS, routing, VPN).
- Experience of data backup systems.
- Experience of managing telephony systems, IP telephony, cloud-based systems, and mobile management.
- Ability to be hands-on, preparing for IT setup in store refits, for example, wiring plugs, pulling through cables, and putting up shelves.
- Ability to meet deadlines and respond positively to pressure.
- Motivated, proactive, enthusiastic, and friendly disposition.
- Willing and able to travel, including overnights and weekends, to meet operational needs.
- Hold a current, full clean driving license and access to a vehicle.
