Position Overview:
We are looking for a passionate and skilled Assistant Culinary Manager to join our Hospitality team at Chartwells - Independent. This role involves supporting the preparation, cooking, and presentation of high-quality dishes, ensuring client satisfaction, and maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment. You will cater to a diverse range of events.
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position, requiring 40 hours per week, with shifts that may include evenings and weekends due to the nature of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Satisfaction:
- Prepare, cook, and present dishes according to required standards and portion specifications.
- Ensure proper food recovery and storage to minimize waste.
- Maintain cleanliness in all kitchen and surrounding areas.
- Utilize all machinery and equipment correctly.
- Contribute to menu development as needed.
- Assist in managing the cleanliness and general upkeep of the kitchen and service areas.
- Implement new policies and procedures as directed by senior management.
- Support and assist other team members as required.
- Perform additional tasks to ensure effective food service delivery.
- Assist in managing orders and menu planning to adhere to budget constraints.
- Utilize stock efficiently.
- Help lead the team by establishing clear goals for junior staff.
- Support senior management through effective communication.
- Take responsibility for training and developing kitchen staff.
- Assist in managing kitchen support team schedules.
- Ensure a succession plan is in place to uphold the company's vision for excellence.
- Ensure proper food management and storage to minimize waste.
- Assist with receiving and storing deliveries.
- Communicate effectively with senior management.
- Adhere to all health and safety procedures and standards.
- Comply with food allergen and intolerance regulations.
- Implement an Allergen Management Process for food production.
- Previous experience in a similar kitchen role.
- Passion for working in a culinary environment.
- Ability to collaborate positively with team members.
- Friendly, helpful, and courteous demeanor.
- NVQ Level 2/3 in professional cookery or equivalent.
- Basic food hygiene certification (Level 2).
