Clinical Nurse Specialist in Pain Management

Position Overview
An exceptional opportunity exists for a Clinical Nurse Specialist focusing on pain management. The successful candidate will join a dedicated multi-disciplinary team specializing in pain and neuromodulation. Key responsibilities will encompass the care of patients with implanted neuromodulation devices, including spinal cord stimulators and intrathecal pumps. The team emphasizes audit, research, and education, and the role will involve active participation in these initiatives.
Core Responsibilities
The role entails the assessment and management of patients undergoing both day case and inpatient procedures for the implantation of spinal cord stimulators for chronic pain and intrathecal pumps for pain or spasticity. The candidate will be expected to oversee these patients throughout their entire care pathway, which includes:
- Pre-operative evaluations
- Trial of the implant
- Inpatient care during admission
- Post-operative outpatient follow-up
Additionally, the candidate will provide support and education to nursing and therapy staff regarding the management of this patient demographic.
The position requires close collaboration with medical professionals, nursing staff, and therapists within the healthcare setting to deliver evidence-based care to patients. Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- First Level Registered Nurse
- Current NMC registration
- Diploma in nursing
- Post-registration qualification in a relevant specialty
- Teaching and assessing qualification
Desirable:
- Degree in nursing or related field
- Experience in a neuroscience or pain management department
Knowledge and Skills
Essential:
- Comprehensive clinical experience in a relevant specialty

- Supervisory experience with junior nursing staff
