Clinical Nurse Specialist Band 5 - Fixed-term/Secondment, Full-time/Part-time

We are seeking motivated and passionate Band 5 nurses eager to contribute to a newly established healthcare facility in a central location.

Both full-time and part-time positions are available, with responsibilities including internal rotation between day and night shifts. Candidates should be prepared to work during weekends and public holidays.

The designated unit is a dynamic adult gastroenterology ward, catering to a diverse patient demographic with various gastroenterological conditions.

While prior experience is not mandatory, familiarity with adult care in a hospital context, particularly concerning gastrointestinal issues, would be advantageous.

This role offers the selected candidate the chance to collaborate within a respected multidisciplinary team, with opportunities for further education in the gastroenterology specialty.

We expect our nursing professionals to uphold the organization's values and standards consistently, with the ward leadership emphasizing high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities

The incumbent will be accountable for the assessment, planning, execution, and evaluation of nursing care. Collaborate as part of the multidisciplinary team and undertake assigned tasks from the ward manager or charge nurse. Upon successful completion of foundational competencies, the individual will be expected to oversee the ward or department during their shift. The post holder will consistently adhere to the Nursing and Midwifery Council's Code of Professional Conduct.

Clinical Responsibilities

Ensure a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for all patients and their families while maintaining established nursing standards. Identify nursing priorities and develop patient care plans, notifying the nurse in charge of any changes that may impact care. Maintain accurate nursing records in line with regulatory and organizational guidelines. Contribute to the enhancement of patient care quality through participation in clinical benchmarking and best practice initiatives. Respect and accommodate the customs, values, and spiritual beliefs of patients. Provide information and support to patients and their families, ensuring all parties are informed of any changes in the patient's condition.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

Registered Nurse with current NMC registration. Diploma in Nursing.

Desirable

Mentorship or teaching qualification. Post-registration qualification in a relevant specialty.

Skills and Knowledge

Essential

Understanding of current nursing practices and clinical governance. Awareness of personal limitations and commitment to professional development.

Essential

Supportive of colleagues and adaptable to changing environments. Dedication to maintaining high standards of patient care and professional conduct. Ability to organize workload and delegate tasks effectively. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Desirable

Basic IT skills, including proficiency in email and word processing.
