Sheffield, Sheffield, United Kingdom Sheffield City Council Full time

Join Our Team as a Community Engagement Coordinator

We are thrilled to announce an opportunity within the Strategy and Partnerships division at Sheffield City Council. This part-time position is dedicated to enhancing the Race Equality Partnership for Sheffield.

The Race Equality Partnership for Sheffield (REPS) is a dynamic, collaborative network formed by various stakeholders committed to fostering an anti-racist environment in Sheffield.

Established by a coalition of public sector entities, local enterprises, and community organizations, REPS aims to implement the recommendations from a recent commission focused on race equality.

We seek a proactive and innovative individual to serve as the primary support for REPS. This role will involve collaborating closely with the Chair of REPS and engaging with a diverse array of partners throughout the city, all while being integrated within the Strategy and Partnerships team at Sheffield City Council.

The successful candidate will be instrumental in facilitating the objectives of REPS by acting as a crucial link between its various functions and partnership members. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing organizational and administrative assistance to the Chair of REPS.
  • Maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders across the city, including local government, healthcare providers, law enforcement, and educational institutions.
  • Ensuring that community perspectives are prioritized in all REPS initiatives, including supporting community engagement efforts.
  • Contributing to the formulation of REPS' Collective Action Plan and monitoring progress towards the goal of an anti-racist city.
  • Developing and managing communications for all parties involved with REPS.
  • Assisting in the organization and execution of regular meetings for various REPS groups.
  • Participating in additional policy and project initiatives as the partnership evolves.

We welcome applications from individuals with proven experience in collaborative community engagement and a track record of achieving shared objectives. Candidates should possess strong negotiation and mediation skills, particularly with senior stakeholders. Additionally, familiarity with race equality policies and the ability to manage and assess projects are essential.

This part-time role requires a commitment of 24 hours per week, with flexible working hours to be discussed with the selected candidate.
