We are thrilled to announce an opportunity to become part of the Strategy and Partnerships team at Sheffield City Council in a vital part-time position aimed at enhancing community relations through the Race Equality Partnership for Sheffield.

The Race Equality Partnership for Sheffield (REPS) is a newly formed, dynamic coalition of individuals and organizations committed to transforming Sheffield into an anti-racist city. This initiative is a response to the community's needs and aims to foster inclusivity and equality.

REPS has been established through collaboration among various stakeholders, including public sector entities, local enterprises, and community organizations. It is a significant step following the recommendations from a recent commission, which seeks to ensure lasting change within the city.

We are in search of a motivated, team-oriented, and creative professional who will serve as the dedicated secretariat for REPS. This role will entail supporting the Chair of REPS and collaborating closely with a diverse array of partners throughout the city, all while being an integral part of the Strategy and Partnerships team at Sheffield City Council.

The successful applicant will be instrumental in the effectiveness of REPS by acting as a crucial link between its various functions and the partnership members. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing comprehensive organizational and administrative assistance to the Chair of REPS.
  • Maintaining strong engagement with essential partners across the city, including local government, healthcare services, law enforcement, and educational institutions.
  • Ensuring that community perspectives are prioritized in all REPS activities, including supporting community engagement initiatives and networks.
  • Contributing to the formulation of REPS' Collective Action Plan and tracking Sheffield's progress towards becoming an anti-racist city.
  • Developing and managing consistent communications for stakeholders involved with REPS.
  • Assisting in the organization and execution of regular meetings for REPS' Progress and Action Group, Expert Advisory Council, and Task Groups.
  • Participating in additional policy and project initiatives as the partnership evolves.

We welcome applications from individuals with proven experience in collaborative efforts with local communities to achieve shared objectives. Candidates should possess strong negotiation, mediation, and influence skills, particularly with senior stakeholders. Furthermore, an understanding of race equality policies and strategies, along with expertise in project development, management, and evaluation, is essential.

This is a part-time position requiring 24 hours of work per week, with flexible working hours to be discussed with the selected candidate.
