GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and passionate Teaching Assistant to join our team in Washington. As an SEMH Teaching Assistant - Secondary, you will play a vital role in supporting the Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs of young people in our client schools.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide individualized support to students with SEMH needs, promoting their academic and personal growth.
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment, addressing the unique challenges of each student.
- Assist in the preparation of learning materials and resources, ensuring they meet the diverse needs of our students.
- Work closely with teachers to develop and implement personalized learning plans, tailored to the strengths and challenges of each student.
- Participate in school events and activities that enrich the student's experience, fostering a sense of community and belonging.
- A degree or specialization in special education, psychology, social work, or a related field, with a strong understanding of SEMH challenges and effective support strategies.
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs is highly desirable, demonstrating your ability to adapt and innovate in a dynamic environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to engage effectively with students, teachers, and parents, and build strong relationships.
