Support Worker for Students with SEMH Needs

About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our team at an outstanding primary school in Washington. As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing tailored support to students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
Responsibilities:
- Support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs in their academic and personal development.
- Work closely with teachers and other staff to create a supportive learning environment.
- Implement individualised support plans and strategies.
- Assist in managing classroom behaviour and promoting positive interactions.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support as needed.
- Monitor and report on student progress and well-being.
Requirements:
- Prior experience as an SEMH Teaching Assistant or in a similar role.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
- Patience, empathy and a genuine passion for supporting young people.
- Relevant qualifications or training in Social, Emotional and Mental Health support (desirable but not essential).
- Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
