We are excited to offer a rewarding opportunity for Patient Transport Assistants to become part of our dedicated team.

Position Overview

This role involves a commitment of 42 hours per week on a flexible rota, consisting of four 11-hour shifts across the week. We seek individuals who are ready to embrace this shift pattern.

Key Responsibilities

As a Patient Transport Assistant, your primary duty will be to facilitate the safe and comfortable transportation of elderly, ill, and vulnerable individuals to their medical appointments and between healthcare facilities. This may involve working as part of a team or independently, necessitating a valid UK driving license and a good level of physical fitness.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing compassionate assistance to 'end of life' patients, ensuring empathy is maintained at all times.
  • Establishing rapport through effective communication with patients and their families.
  • Safely lifting, securing, and assisting service users in and out of the transport vehicle.
  • Coordinating the handover of patients to medical staff or family members upon arrival at treatment centers.
  • Transferring patients between beds, stretchers, and chairs in various settings.
  • Supporting service users experiencing challenging behaviors or mental health issues.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and safety within the transport vehicle.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:

  • A strong commitment to patient care.
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly in emotionally charged situations.
  • A calm and careful driving demeanor, with no more than three penalty points on your license.
  • A collaborative spirit and a willingness to work as part of a team.
  • Physical fitness suitable for patient handling and mobility tasks.
  • The ability to pass an Enhanced DBS check (company funded).
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts.
  • Familiarity with the local area.
