About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Defect Contract Manager to join our team at Ringway. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a crucial role in planning, controlling, managing, and coordinating all operational and commercial activities in line with company policies, processes, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely deliver the safety defect service on the Surrey Highways Contract: Ensure that all safety defect services are delivered in a safe and environmentally friendly manner, meeting the highest quality standards.
  • Take full responsibility for operational and commercial matters: Oversee all operational and commercial activities, ensuring that they are aligned with company policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Ensure service delivery aligns with contractual obligations: Work closely with clients to ensure that service delivery meets contractual obligations and expectations.
  • Monitor Performance Indicators and achieve targets: Monitor key performance indicators and work towards achieving targets and improving operational efficiency.
  • Lead weekly cost and value review meetings: Lead regular review meetings to discuss cost and value performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as needed.
  • Promote and understand company policies: Promote and understand company policies and procedures, ensuring that they are implemented and adhered to.
  • Liaise with stakeholders: Liaise with senior management, client representatives, commercial teams, supervisors, and the workforce to ensure that works are on budget and on schedule.
  • Understand and promote highway inspections and defect repairs: Understand and promote the importance of highway inspections and defect repairs, ensuring that they are carried out in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Provide clients with correct documentation: Provide clients with accurate and timely documentation, including programs and safe systems of work.
  • Maintain high standards of environmental, safety, and health: Maintain the highest standards of environmental, safety, and health, ensuring that all operations are carried out in a responsible and sustainable manner.
  • Manage pricing, costing, and billing processes: Manage pricing, costing, and billing processes to ensure accurate and timely orders and payments.
  • Provide advice through ECI: Provide advice to clients through Early Contractor Involvement (ECI), ensuring that designs are fit for purpose and buildable.
  • Oversee the construction process: Oversee the construction process, ensuring that milestones are met and standards adhered to.
  • Ensure compliant safe systems of work: Ensure that safe systems of work are implemented and adhered to, including temporary works processes and permitting systems.
  • Train and ensure competency of the operational team: Train and ensure that the operational team is competent and equipped to carry out their roles and responsibilities.
  • Identify and allocate specialist contractors and suppliers: Identify and allocate specialist contractors and suppliers as needed, ensuring that they meet company standards and expectations.

Candidate Profile:

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced individual with a strong background in construction/civil engineering management. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Current Site Managers Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certificate: Hold a current Site Managers Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certificate.
  • Driving Licence: Hold a valid driving licence.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a construction/civil engineering management role: Have at least 5 years of experience in a construction/civil engineering management role.
  • Competence with Microsoft Office programs: Be competent with Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, Project, and TEAMS.
  • Flexible and approachable attitude: Possess a flexible and approachable attitude, with a strong ability to work with others.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of safety barriers, VRS, and maintenance processes: Have demonstrable knowledge of safety barriers, VRS, and maintenance processes.

Preferred/Favourable:

  • IOSH/NEBOSH qualification: Hold an IOSH/NEBOSH qualification.
  • ICE or equivalent industry qualification: Hold an ICE or equivalent industry qualification.
  • Temporary works coordinator: Have experience as a temporary works coordinator.
  • First Aid at Work: Hold a First Aid at Work certificate.
  • Trade or engineering background: Have a trade or engineering background.
