About the Role:
The Highway Depot Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily management of five highways depots in Surrey, ensuring the efficient and safe delivery of services 24/7. This role involves managing staff, resources, and equipment to maintain high standards of service and compliance with health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the depot, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
- Manage all aspects of health and safety compliance for the five depots, including emergency arrangements, first aid, and fire management.
- Develop and implement a robust auditing regime to ensure compliance with company processes and regulations.
- Manage stock procurement and maintenance, including undertaking monthly stock audits to ensure minimum stock levels are maintained.
- Ensure general facilities management requirements are met to maintain a safe working environment.
- Manage plant and equipment, including compliance with LOLER regulations.
- Manage waste streams entering and leaving the depot.
Requirements:
- Full driving license
- Proven experience in depot or operations management, preferably within the highways or transportation sector
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent understanding of health and safety regulations
- Good financial management and budgeting skills
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Relevant qualifications in management, logistics, or a related field
- Experience with traffic management and highways maintenance
- Experience in facilities management
