Role Overview:

We are seeking a Director of Marketing to become a vital part of the Climate Action events team, playing a key role in the company's dynamic growth and success through the strategic planning and execution of marketing initiatives.

The ideal candidate will be a commercially savvy and resilient marketing leader with a demonstrated history of successfully marketing B2B conferences and events. Experience in marketing automation and digital marketing is essential. A proactive attitude in a fast-paced environment and a genuine passion for marketing are crucial. Familiarity with climate change policies and sustainability practices is a significant advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies for Climate Action's event portfolio, which includes 6 to 8 annual events and an online information hub, covering conferences, trade shows, digital events, and social media.
  • Ensure the delivery of targeted audiences for each brand in a cost-effective manner to enhance return on investment (ROI) and attendee retention.
  • Manage and optimize the lead generation process, guiding prospects through to sales-ready leads and eventual sales conversion.
  • Establish a structured marketing workflow to ensure timely execution of all marketing activities through automation.
  • Prioritize sales initiatives and enhance conversion rates through effective digital marketing strategies.
  • Enhance online visibility through a robust content strategy.
  • Focus on performance marketing to achieve measurable results and ROI.
  • Design, implement, and assess marketing plans across the portfolio to ensure optimal delegate attendance at conferences and to maximize ROI.
  • Exhibit exceptional data management skills: Identify data gaps, manage data builds to demonstrate ROI, and effectively segment data to optimize campaign outcomes.
  • Research, negotiate, and oversee partnerships that add commercial value.
  • Manage all brand and communication touchpoints efficiently and within budget, ensuring the website is engaging, accurate, and action-oriented, while collaborating with in-house and external design teams.
  • Produce online content for emails, websites, press releases, and other promotional materials.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy.
  • Oversee the marketing budget effectively.
  • Understand and plan for various visitor journeys, creating registration briefs as necessary.
  • Support the design and production of promotional materials, ensuring adherence to branding guidelines.
  • Formulate and implement a PR strategy, overseeing its execution.
  • Mentor and develop junior marketing team members through training and performance metrics.

Candidate Profile:

The successful candidate will possess the following attributes:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in marketing international B2B conferences.
  • At least 3 years of experience in developing and leading high-performing teams.
  • A strong commitment to sustainability and environmental issues.
  • An adaptable approach to work, with the ability to assess results and modify plans accordingly.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and stakeholder management skills, with the capability to work independently.
  • Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • A robust work ethic with enthusiasm for creating, executing, and enhancing marketing strategies.
  • Proficient digital marketing skills and a solid understanding of commercial content marketing.
  • A creative mindset to maximize limited marketing budgets for optimal outcomes.
  • Ability to maintain composure and effectiveness under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of marketing automation and a desire to demonstrate commercial results.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, particularly over the phone, to secure agreements with key global partners.
  • A comprehensive understanding of social media channels and strategies for effective commercial leverage.
  • Practical experience with digital marketing tools such as Google Analytics and AdWords.
