Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled Control Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team of automation professionals. This role is crucial in maintaining and enhancing the operational technology (OT) systems and infrastructure within our manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of automation systems and their infrastructure, ensuring a safe and efficient production environment.
  • Support the Operational / Automation systems including PLC, SCADA, Networks, and SQL.
  • Contribute to the development of the Automation strategy, focusing on reliability, modernization, and enhancements.
  • Utilize asset reliability data and OEE losses to conduct thorough root cause analyses and investigations.
  • Identify and organize projects aimed at asset improvement, providing justifications for cost savings.
  • Collaborate with the Improvement team on continuous enhancements to factory operations.
  • Design and implement control systems for new equipment installations.
  • Engage with Automation Teams across the organization to exchange best practices.
  • Evaluate and establish confidence in the equipment and services provided by automation vendors.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of an Electrical apprenticeship, complemented by extensive practical experience.
  • A degree in electrical, control, or automation engineering is highly desirable.
  • Experience in manufacturing settings, particularly in heavy industry or chemical processes, is advantageous.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong time management skills with an adaptable and flexible approach.
  • In-depth knowledge of PLC/SCADA systems, relational databases, industrial networks, and high-level programming languages.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills with a commitment to staying updated on technological advancements.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage personal performance effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills to collect, assess, and act on relevant information.
  • Focus on continuous improvement, particularly regarding automation systems and infrastructure.
  • Safety-conscious with the capability to lead and develop a team in implementing best engineering practices.
