Junior Electrical Engineer

As a key member of our engineering team at Continental, you will be responsible for leading engineering projects from conception to handover and providing continued technical support post-handover.

You will support other engineering projects and maintenance activities, including:

  • Designing new and improved equipment or facilities to meet the needs of our customers.
  • Raising and maintaining documentation for project and purchase approval to ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Surveying existing equipment and facilities to identify areas for improvement.
  • Participating in machinery safety risk assessments to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Performing project and contract risk assessments to mitigate potential risks.
  • Carrying out contractor inductions and issuing Permits to Work to ensure compliance with site safety standards.
  • Leading project teams to deliver agreed improvements to company assets, including budget control and managing contractors.
  • Ensuring internal customers and stakeholders deliver agreed contributions to planned activities in a timely manner to meet overall project objectives.
  • Taking timely and effective action to mitigate project risks and performance issues.
  • Providing a monthly delay report and communicating any actions to improve reliability.

You will also be responsible for:

  • Interrogating and programming electrical drives, HMIs, and PLCs to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Designing and specifying engineering solutions that comply with company and corporate standards and statutory requirements.
  • Managing contractors to ensure that all work is conducted in accordance with site safety standards and regulations.
  • Performing risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implementing measures to reduce or eliminate risks.
  • Ensuring timely and accurate completion of all project documentation.

Requirements:

  • HNC or Degree in Electrical discipline with 3 years post-qualification experience in an industrial environment or BTEC electrical, C&G equivalent with 5 years post-qualification experience in an industrial environment.
  • Project management techniques.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office + MS Project).
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills, including root cause analysis and Pareto.
  • Planning and organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge or understanding of industrial maintenance techniques, ISO, H&S, Environmental standards, and legislative regulations and standards.
  • Wide knowledge of electrical control systems applications.
  • Detailed knowledge and expertise in designing control systems incorporating PLCs and variable speed drives.
  • Demonstrated competence or understanding of site safety systems, including permit to work procedures and other company policies.
