As a key member of our engineering team at Continental, you will be responsible for leading engineering projects from conception to handover and providing continued technical support post-handover.
You will support other engineering projects and maintenance activities, including:
- Designing new and improved equipment or facilities to meet the needs of our customers.
- Raising and maintaining documentation for project and purchase approval to ensure compliance with company standards.
- Surveying existing equipment and facilities to identify areas for improvement.
- Participating in machinery safety risk assessments to ensure a safe working environment.
- Performing project and contract risk assessments to mitigate potential risks.
- Carrying out contractor inductions and issuing Permits to Work to ensure compliance with site safety standards.
- Leading project teams to deliver agreed improvements to company assets, including budget control and managing contractors.
- Ensuring internal customers and stakeholders deliver agreed contributions to planned activities in a timely manner to meet overall project objectives.
- Taking timely and effective action to mitigate project risks and performance issues.
- Providing a monthly delay report and communicating any actions to improve reliability.
You will also be responsible for:
- Interrogating and programming electrical drives, HMIs, and PLCs to ensure optimal system performance.
- Designing and specifying engineering solutions that comply with company and corporate standards, as well as statutory requirements.
- Managing contractors to ensure that all work is conducted in accordance with site safety standards and regulations.
- Performing risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implementing measures to reduce or eliminate risks.
- Ensuring timely and accurate completion of all project documentation.
Requirements:
- HNC or Degree in Electrical discipline with 3 years post-qualification experience in an industrial environment, or BTEC electrical, C&G equivalent with 5 years post-qualification experience in an industrial environment.
- Project management techniques.
- Computer literacy (MS Office + MS Project).
- Problem-solving and analytical skills, including root cause analysis and Pareto.
- Planning and organizational skills.
- Working knowledge or understanding of industrial maintenance techniques, ISO, H&S, Environmental standards, and legislative regulations and standards.
- Wide knowledge of electrical control systems applications.
- Detailed knowledge and expertise in designing control systems incorporating PLCs and variable speed drives.
- Demonstrated competence or understanding of site safety systems, including permit to work procedures and other company policies.
