About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Policy Advisor to join our team at HM Treasury, specializing in Personal Tax policy. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the UK's tax policy, working closely with senior officials and ministers to deliver high-quality policy solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead on Income Tax Policy: You will be responsible for leading on setting income tax rates and thresholds, as well as the Personal Allowance, ensuring that our policy solutions are effective and efficient.
  2. Policy Development: You will own the branch's work on policy development, exploring new ideas and simplifying the income tax system, including legislation and implementation.
  3. Taxation of Property Income: You will lead on the taxation of property income, including how it interacts with homeownership and wider simplification agendas.
About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual who can demonstrate a range of skills, including strong problem-solving skills, the ability to establish positive relationships with others, and the drive to structure, plan and prioritize a full workload across a multifaceted portfolio.

You will need to be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing competing deadlines to deliver high-quality work. A strong understanding of tax policy and a passion for public service are essential for this role.
