About the Organization
The Royal Parks (TRP) is a charitable organization dedicated to managing expansive green spaces and historical landmarks across London.

We oversee over 5,000 acres of diverse parkland, rare ecosystems, and significant historical sites.

Our parks include Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, The Green Park, St James's Park, The Regent's Park, Primrose Hill, Greenwich Park, Richmond Park, and Bushy Park.

In addition, we manage other vital public areas such as Brompton Cemetery and Victoria Tower Gardens, attracting 77 million visitors annually.

Our initiative, Help Nature Thrive (HNT), addresses the urgent global biodiversity crisis by enhancing the resilience and biodiversity of The Royal Parks while fostering connections with visitors.

With annual funding of £900k from the People's Postcode Lottery, we aim to improve park conservation, enrich visitor experiences, and gather data to guide management strategies.

We are seeking a Community Engagement Specialist to join our HNT Team on a full-time basis, with potential for extension based on funding availability.

Your expertise in community engagement will be crucial to our Help Nature Thrive initiative as we strive to combat the global biodiversity crisis and enhance the resilience of London's cherished green spaces.


Role Overview

As a Community Engagement Specialist, you will collaborate with the Help Nature Thrive Team to boost participation, volunteerism, and communication within the Royal Parks.

In partnership with park teams, local authorities, and other stakeholders, you will identify target demographics and develop nature-focused engagement strategies to attract diverse community groups to the parks.

Your role will also involve promoting Help Nature Thrive to various audiences, including park visitors, volunteers, and the general public.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct outreach initiatives with local communities
  • Manage budgets and ensure all expenditures are documented
  • Assist in organizing the Help Nature Thrive Roadshow

Candidate Profile
To qualify for the Community Engagement Specialist position, you should possess:

  • Proven experience in developing and executing community engagement activities related to natural sciences, ecology, conservation, and green spaces
  • Strong relationship-building skills with various stakeholders and visitors
  • A genuine passion for and knowledge of urban nature in the UK
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication abilities
  • Strong numerical skills
  • Proficiency in IT, including Microsoft Office
  • A degree in an environmental or social science field or equivalent relevant experience

This position may require occasional evening and weekend work.
